A Peer Education course for 40 people began on Tuesday
The Water Tanks Project started out in Kahurura with the surveys, to select the most suitable locations for the water tanks. And the digging started…
Towards the end of the week, training and planning days were held for the Health surveys.
At the same time we had some of the team attend the HECA Club training which was launched into six schools in the area earlier in July in partnership with Public Health Office.
On Thursday some of our building experts paid visit to the Polytechnic to assess the work that needs to be carried out there.
Meanwhile the medical team hosted a training day with medical professionals of Londiani Hospital on Haematology.
With the first two holes for the water tanks been completed on the Friday under the stewardship of Ciaran, Rachel, Francis & our local fundi Ruben, along with the local community.
The was no rest for the wicked and to keep the momentum going the water crew consisting of Ciaran, Francis, Louise, Paul & Rachel worked on Saturday to keep things moving along. A graduation ceremony for the Peer Education Lifeskills course took place on Friday where great colour singing and dancing was witnessed.
On Saturday Friends of Londiani hosted a School Variety show with 12 schools from the surrounding areas entering – it was a great success with Kapcheplanga winning the senior Category and Bethel Lower winning the Junior Category.
Anna our Kenyan Director and Louise along with a drama teacher from the area adjudicated on the proceedings.
While the singing and dancing was going on our medical team were doing a child assessment clinic of the children in the Bethel Home. All children on site were assessed.
All attended mass in St. Kizito’s Church in the Cork colours much to the delight of local and fellow Corkonion Fr. Martin Barry – where all the volunteers spoke from the alter and also sang a few songs.
