Today was a historic day in Londiani as the “groundbreaking” ceremony for Londiani District Hospital took place. This theatre will serve the Kipkelion District of 206,000 people. Up to now, patients have to transfer to surrounding hospitals which are up to an hour away. This operating theatre will make a big difference to the community who have taken ownership of the project from the start. The project will be managed by the hospital management community and Friends of Londiani. Great celebrations were had by all, and St Kizitos Choir joined in the celebration with fantastic singing. Friends of Londiani would like to acknowledge the support of Irish Aid and Mayo General Hospital with this project.
